What a start to the year! Another blogging award to add to the collection. I’d like to say a huge thank you to the lovely Stephen at Yule Times for nominating me for this award.
Honestly, I love these awards. Thanks to these I’ve found so many talented writers and people I can relate and connect too. On the other hand, it’s also lovely to be appreciated for my writing. Blogging is fun but can sometimes be stressful, I have plenty of moments where I delete posts or restart a piece 100’s of times because I think ‘it’s not good enough, no one will read this’ but rewards like this and supportive comments on my posts and within the community make them little stresses worth it.
When you’re nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award, there are rules you need to follow while accepting the award in order to keep the circle going:
• Thank the blogger that nominated you
• Write a post to show your award
• Give a brief story of how your blog started
• Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
• Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to
•Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you
How I started my blog
So I’ve not been blogging for long, in fact, my blogs not even a year old yet… It’s soon approaching though. How crazy is that?
Many of you who’s been reading for a while, will know I wanted to blog for ages but kept putting it off as my life wasn’t interesting enough, well so I thought.
Then I had my little bundle of Joy, Logan! He gave me that little push to start what I’ve always wanted to do.
I originally started this blog under the name ‘Adventures of Logan and me’. The main purpose was just to write about Logan’s milestones and use it as a online scrapbook.
Fast forward to now and we now have a name change due to the new baby on the way. The new name is also more fitting to this blog as it’s my little diary on my family life.
I never once expected anyone to read this blog, it really was just my little space on the internet. Since the first two blog posts going so successfully and seeing people I never expected to read it as well as complete strangers… it’s given me so much motivation to try and get more use out of this blog. Which is happening slowly with the opportunities I’ve had so far. Them opportunities wouldn’t have happened without my readers and all of your kind comments so thank you all for being a part of that!
My advice for new bloggers
Obviously, I’m no expert I’m still learning. The blogging world can be very confusing especially when you’re so new to it. Thanks to the blogging community on Twitter and Facebook I’ve had so much support and help when needed. I’ve also sat down and researched for hours on how to improve.
So heres my advice for new bloggers or anyone wanting to start a blog.
1. Don’t worry about stats
Honestly, I was a bit of a sucker for this in the first few months of blogging. I went from 20 views a post and then suddenly hit the big 1000! I didn’t understand what went wrong when I went back to such low numbers. I tried to do two blogs every day thinking that’s what would improve and in fact it did the opposite.
It can be so disheartening when this happens but DO NOT doubt yourself! Your work is good, blogging is for fun so never stress over some numbers. Engagement is far more important. You could have 2 subscribers and say 5 views and that’s something you know because them people love your work! And if they comment fantastic. Don’t ever stress yourself out over blogging. It’s so easy to overcommit yourself in the beginning.
2. Talk with other bloggers
If you’re just starting a blog or been around a while, get yourself on Twitter, join blogging groups on Facebook and if you understand it get on Pinterest if you haven’t already!
Bloggers are everywhere all forms of social media you can think of! Not only does sharing your blog on these platforms gets your blog noticed you can talk to other people with the same interests and actually make some great friendships.
This for me is the best part of blogging hands down, the support really is great and for me personally its given me a confidence boost!
(If your reading this thinking I want to write a blog, just do it make one now! )
So enough of my babbling on like I’ve won an Oscar and start thanking all my family and friends for being here…😂 I best nominate 15 other talented bloggers for this award!
Here’s my nominations below, go show them some love:
